Meet the Founder
Before starting Waterloo Bags, I worked as a Software Engineer. I didn’t major in Computer Science during undergrad; I actually fell into the field and ended up building a 14-year career in tech. Along the way, I took a short break to raise my two young children while earning my M.B.A. from Texas Tech. Balancing parenthood and graduate school wasn’t easy, but with the loving support of my husband and the flexibility of Texas Tech’s hybrid program, I made it work.
After earning my M.B.A. and raising my children, I returned to work and enjoyed it for about two and a half years. But as life often goes, things changed when my team was laid off. While that could have been discouraging, I chose to see it as an opportunity to refocus on what I truly wanted.
I realized that while software engineering was something I was good at, it wasn’t my passion. I had always wanted to build something of my own, something I could believe in. When the idea for Waterloo Bags came to me, I knew it was the right time to take the leap.
Now, I get to create something meaningful: reusable, customizable purses built with interchangeable parts and designed to reflect each person’s individuality while helping the environment along the way
